It is for us and it could be for you! Fact: Canadians produce more than 31 million tonnes of garbage annually. That's 2.7kg per person per day -- roughly our own body weight in garbage every month. (Source: Statistics Canada) Waste Reduction Week (WRW) in Canada is an educational program encouraging waste reduction and minimization initiatives across Canada. The theme "Too Good to Waste" is intended to raise public consciousness about waste and its environmental and social ramifications. The week is spearheaded by a committee of environmental organizations from across the country and will be celebrated from October 17 - 23, 2005. (Name of Municipality) believes that local governments need to lead their communities by example. We are dedicated to waste reduction and environmental sustainability through our own operations and know this can help us to assist our residents, schools and businesses to practice the 3Rs - reduce, reuse, recycle - everyday!
