Salvation Army and The Ontario March of Dimes held a Household Item Collection during the week. Residents were encouraged to fill a bag with items such as clothes, kitchenware, and other small reusable household items. |

Local business encouraged customers to use reusable shopping bags or containers…participating customers could win prizes
Posters were displayed at doughnut and coffee shops to encourage the “lug-a-mug” campaign. The posters were reusable for the following year. |

Implement a battery take-back and recycling program
As a challenge get employees in the workplace to write down all the things they think can be recycled. The person with the longest list of correct answers wins. Wrong answers count against the game participant
Ask employees to sort their garbage into numerous categories: magazine paper, newsprint, "confidential" paper, cardboard, glass bottles, PET bottles, cans, combustible, batteries, non-combustibles, and so on.
